From exhilarating and tumultuous travels over the Atlantic Ocean in 1850 to generative service in the 21st Century, the Ursuline Sisters have been part of the Diocese of Cleveland almost since its inception. As the first religious congregation in the diocese, the sisters established the parochial system of schools with Bishop Rappe and parish priests. Their joyful witness to the gospel has courageously withstood anti-Catholic and anti-immigrant sentiment, survived economic challenges and always sought to embody the spirit of their foundress, Saint Angela Merici. Care for the individual, contemplative presence, and dynamic adaptability are among their hallmarks. Come and hear the stories of over 1,000 Ursuline Sisters, recognize your place as part of their extended family and commit to being part of the ongoing legacy of justice, compassion and contemplation. Be among the first to obtain their new commemorative history, Bonds of Charity, which will be available for purchase at the talk. Celebrate 175 years of joyful service in education, social service, pastoral and health care, justice and personal presence!
